What's it like working for us?

As a large public sector organisation that truly values its employees, we offer an excellent package of staff benefits. These range from flexi-time working and generous leave entitlements, to childcare vouchers and a choice of pension schemes. We also offer great learning and development opportunities, an Employee Assistance programme and even loans for season tickets and bicycles.

Working hours

Full time employees at the Commission are contracted to work 36 hours per week. We offer flexible working patterns where possible to assist with and welcome applications from people wishing to work on a part time or job share basis. We also operate a flexi-time scheme that allows you to alter your start and finish times and take hours back that you have accrued.

Annual Leave

All employees working full time over 5 days of the week are entitled to a basic leave entitlement of 30 days plus bank and public holidays each year.

Pension Scheme

We operate the civil service pension scheme and also offer stakeholder pension schemes. You can get further details on their website: www.civilservice-pensions.gov.uk. Further details will be provided once you start working for us.

Learning and Development

We are keen for everyone to develop to their full potential within their role at the Commission and have a comprehensive amount of opportunities for learning and development, including mandatory training that you will undertake during your probationary period and a policy that is able to offer support for you to study for professional qualifications.

Employee Assistance Programme

The Commission offers all employees access to an independent, professional external counselling organisation, which will help you deal with any problems in total confidence.

Relocation Expenses

Reimbursement of relocation expenses up to an £8,000 limit may be available, for candidates relocating from the South East, where there are no other suitable candidates and recruitment to the post is difficult.

Unions

The Commission recognises both PCS and Unite.

Season Ticket Loans

If you use public transport to commute to and from work at the Commission you will be entitled to apply for an interest free loan to purchase your season ticket.

Bicycle Loans

In the interests of the environment we will look to provide interest free loans to employees wishing to purchase a bicycle to use to commute to and from work.

Childcare Vouchers

To support staff that wish to have a career but also have childcare responsibilities we are able to provide childcare vouchers.

Professional Subscriptions

If membership to a professional body/organisation or association is listed as essential on the person specification the Commission will pay your membership subscription.
