Policy Officer – Public Sector Duties

Glasgow Circa £26,815 Ref: PO52

On the 1st October 2007, The Equality and Human Rights Commission opened with the aim of making Britain a fairer place for all. Join us and you’ll be part of an organisation that not only champions human rights and strives to eliminate discrimination, but which also celebrates the fact that we are all equally different.

Join us and you will make an important contribution to strategy programmes aimed at delivering our vision and mission in Scotland. Your main role will involve engaging with a wide range of public bodies to help drive performance improvement in the context of the equality duties. We will also expect you to draft reports, briefing materials, and speeches when the need arises, and you may be asked to organise some events and campaigns too.

Some experience of formulating, implementing and evaluating policy and strategies, in either the public or the voluntary sector, would be advantageous. We would also like to see a well developed understanding of the context and process of policy making in Scotland and the wider GB arena, as well as some knowledge of equality or human rights issues, law or policy within the public sector.

We actively encourage applications from groups in society that are currently under represented and from candidates who want to work flexibly or part-time.

We can provide vacancy details in a range of accessible formats.
